Australia Skilled Visas

Australia offers three (3) types of skilled migration visas. The process is point-based (minimum required points for skilled migration is 65), includes an English language proficiency test and applicants' qualifications, skills, work experience need to align with the Australian Skills Occupation list.

The 189 visa is a general skilled visa. The applicant is selected and nominated by the Federal Government and offers permanent residence.

The 190 visa is a State Sponsored visa and like the 189 visa, this visa also offers permanent residence.

Unlike the 189 and 190 visas, the subclass 491 visa is a temporary residence visa for three (3) years and applicant is selected by a Region.

Tourist visa

A tourist visa may be applied for when an applicant intends to visit South Africa for tourism or holiday purposes. This visa may be issued for 30 to 90 days.

Section 11 (2) visa

A Section 11 (2) visa is commonly known as a short-term work visa. This visa is used for short-term projects to be conducted in South Africa for up to 90 days.

Relative’s visa

A relative’s visa may be applied for by a family member within the first and second step of kinship of the South African citizen or permanent residence holder.

Long-term visitor’s visa

A long-term visitor’s visa may be issued to a foreigner who intends to conduct activities
